About
The Wendell Historical Society dates to the late 1960s. Its early fundraisers let it save Wendell's historic post office from being torn down in the 1970s, restore it and move it to a new site. The Society led the effort that listed Wendell's downtown on the National Register as the Wendell Commercial Historic District in 1998, and in 2009 it added the Wendell Boulevard Historic District. It hosts tours of historic homes, including regular Christmas tours, began an annual Fourth of July celebration in 2008 and updated the Wendell Historic Trail maps in 2013. After years of fundraising, it opened the Wendell Museum in 2022 to showcase the town's history.
