About
Rare Bird Farm + Cultural Arts is a 98-acre farm and cultural event space about 19 miles west of Asheville. It sees itself as both a place and an event where nature, art, music, film and theatre come together. Rare Bird Cultural Arts runs the programming: intimate listening-room concerts in a barn for about 75 people or on a terraced hillside for around 150, a festival with limited on-site camping, film, and hands-on workshops. Recent workshops include cornhusk doll making with Cherokee artist Laura Walkingstick and shape note singing. The farm focuses on creativity, community, ecology and the history of the Appalachian Mountains, and it welcomes artists and audiences of diverse abilities.
