About
Marshall High Studios is a working arts building in a restored former high school that stands on a 10 acre island of the French Broad River; when Madison County Schools closed the 100 year-old building and it faced demolition, its high ceilings, hardwood floors, tall windows and natural light made it an obvious choice for studios; after a year of planning and renovation it opened in the Fall of 2007. The building now holds 26 studios and more than 30 artists, including painters, fiber artists, musicians, ceramists, printmakers and designers, along with workshops, bodyworkers and movement studios. The goal is an attractive, affordable home for a creative community, where people can work alone or together. The large auditorium can be rented for weddings, benefits and concerts.
