About this event

This Exhibition on Screen film, directed by David Bickerstaff, tells the story of Danish businessman Wilhelm Hansen. At a time when Impressionists such as Monet, Degas and Renoir were scorned and poor, a new group of collectors began competing for their work, and Hansen built a major collection at his summer home, Ordrupgaard, near Copenhagen. With access to a sold-out exhibition at London’s Royal Academy, the film shows the collection in high-definition and moves from the streets of Paris to the house and gardens at Ordrupgaard to examine 19th-century French art.
