About this event

This hands-on introductory class covers the basics of building a wooden boat. The course teaches students to choose wood and design a boat, then to use methods such as planking (carvel or lapstrake), steam bending and fastening to put together a small craft. The curriculum includes basic design, the essential tools, safe shop habits and how wood behaves, ending with a small project that builds confidence for solo building. Each day of class lasts from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Fee: $200, or $180 for Friends of the Museum. Students must be at least 16, space is limited and advance registration is required.

Listed from the organizer’s public calendar. Their listing has the full program.
